Rugby Reiki Share

Last week I gave a talk on my book 'Reiki Jin Kei Do: The Way of Compassion & Wisdom' to around 35 people at the local library in my home town of Rugby. There were many people there that had taken Reiki training (none of them my students) and there were many interested in taking Reiki training at some point in the future.

It struck me at the end of the talk that there was nowhere in Rugby for practitioners of Reiki to get together socially and to share Reiki. My own Reiki Support Group had disintegrated soon after I moved to Egypt back in 2000 and no-one else had filled the gap in spite of the fact that there were clearly more Reiki people in the town than ever before.

More than this, the lack of such a group also means that there was nowhere for members of the public to go who might be interested in simply trying out a treatment or having a chat with someone who practiced or taught Reiki.

One of the things that my own students had very much enjoyed was the opportunity to give and receive Reiki. As Reiki channels we are often engaged in giving Reiki to others, either professionally or on an occasional basis with friends and family, but we hardy ever receive a treatment ourselves. Having a Reiki Share group would solve this problem and provide an opportunity for Reiki people to get together and receive a Reiki treatment themselves - what a nice thought! If you have never had a treatment from a whole group of Reiki practitioners then you really should give it a go! It is quite incredible.

So, I thought that it was about time that Rugby had its own Reiki Share group - something that it has never had before. My own Reiki Support Group has always been limited to the people that I have trained or that have taken training in Reiki Jin Kei Do with other lineage masters. The reason for this being that at these meetings we engage in much more lineage-specific practice than the giving of Reiki treatments.

I am now in the process of setting up Rugby Reiki Share. I have found a venue, put together a page on the net for advertising and notice purposes and shall in the next week or so be putting up posters and notifying the press.

As local an issue as this is, I do know that my own students in the Rugby area as well as others will be reading this blog and so I post this here just to give a little more impetus to the project.

So, if you are in the Rugby or Warwickshire area and practice Reiki (in any Usui tradition) and would like to come along to the group then you are more than welcome. It doesn't matter to what level you have trained or how competent you feel. If you want to come along just to be with like-minded people and have a natter over a cup of tea then that is fine too. A Right Good Kicking

In view of my last post, this, which came to me recently, is most appropriate. I needed to read this... I do not really know who wrote this - not me - but it was posted on MySpace by a good friend in spirit and an incredibly compassionate person, 'Delly Doolittle':

The ultimate weakness of violence is that it is a descending spiral, begetting the very thing it seeks to destroy. Instead of diminishing evil, it multiplies it. Through violence you may murder the liar, but you cannot murder the lie, nor establish the truth. Through violence you may murder the hater, but you do not murder hate. In fact, violence merely increases hate. So it goes. Returning violence for violence multiplies violence, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that. Hate multiplies hate, violence multiplies violence, and toughness multiplies toughness in a descending spiral of destruction.... The chain reaction of evil — hate begetting hate, wars producing more wars — must be broken, or we shall be plunged into the dark abyss of annihilation. Men often hate each other because they fear each other; they fear each other because they don't know each other; they don't know each other because they can not communicate; they can not communicate because they are separated.

I don't think that the above words were Delly's, but she does a great job in the UK in mobilizing opinion in favour of helping those beings most in need that can in fact be helped. Much more productive in furthering the cause of peace in the world than a right good kicking...
